A4 is 34 mm wider and A4 is 47 mm taller. In full: A4 is 210 × 297 mm and B5 is 176 × 250 mm.
How do I print A4 artwork on B5 paper?
Set the printer scaling to 83.8%. That fits the whole A4 page inside B5 without cropping anything. Choose “fit to page” only if your printer offers it — “actual size” will crop.
How do I print B5 artwork on A4 paper?
Scale to 118.8%.
Can I design one file that prints correctly on both?
Yes. Keep everything that must not be cropped inside 176 × 250 mm (6.93 × 9.84 in), centred. That rectangle fits inside both sizes, so the same PDF prints safely either way. This is the standard trick for selling printables to both US and international buyers.
